Friday Reads: Friday, January 06, 2017

Hello dear Readers,

Lots of snow here in Boise, low temperatures and not looking like the snow is going away any time soon.

After a full week of working from home and going out only if necessary, the weekend is finally here. Which calls for a weekend full of books, a cozy blanket and hot beverages.

This is the new section on my blog where I will tell you which books I plan on reading during the weekend.

Hope you enjoy it and that I can help you find your next great read.

This weekend I will continue reading the pick of the month for our Instagram Book Club, Novels at Night, which is Misery by Stephen King. So far I am liking it a lot.

I am also reading Two Days Gone by Randall Silvis which is an ARC Netgalley kindly sent me in exchange for an honest review. I am participating in the Blog Tour for this book on January 20th. More details coming soon. I am loving this one as well and cant wait to share my thoughts with you all.

Information for both books below.

Happy weekend!

Wendy

Book Description
The #1 national bestseller about a famous novelist held hostage by his “number one fan” and suffering a frightening case of writer’s block—that could prove fatal. One of “Stephen King’s best…genuinely scary” (USA TODAY).

Paul Sheldon is a bestselling novelist who has finally met his number one fan. Her name is Annie Wilkes, and she is more than a rabid reader—she is Paul’s nurse, tending his shattered body after an automobile accident. But she is also furious that the author has killed off her favorite character in his latest book. Annie becomes his captor, keeping him prisoner in her isolated house.

Annie wants Paul to write a book that brings Misery back to life—just for her. She has a lot of ways to spur him on. One is a needle. Another is an axe. And if they don’t work, she can get really nasty.

“Terrifying” (San Francisco Chronicle), “dazzlingly well-written” (The Indianapolis Star), and “truly gripping” (Publishers Weekly), Misery is “classic Stephen King...full of twists and turns and mounting suspense” (The Boston Globe).

Book Description

The perfect family. The perfect house. The perfect life. All gone now.

Thomas Huston, a beloved professor and bestselling author, is something of a local hero in the small Pennsylvania college town where he lives and teaches. So when Huston’s wife and children are found brutally murdered in their home, the community reacts with shock and anger. Huston has also mysteriously disappeared, and suddenly, the town celebrity is suspect number one.

Sergeant Ryan DeMarco has secrets of his own, but he can’t believe that a man he admired, a man he had considered a friend, could be capable of such a crime. Hoping to glean clues about Huston’s mind-set, DeMarco delves into the professor’s notes on his novel-in-progress. Soon, DeMarco doesn’t know who to trust—and the more he uncovers about Huston’s secret life, the more treacherous his search becomes.
