My Thoughts
I had high hopes for this book but unfortunately I did not like it. I did not hate it but it was not as good as I thought it would be. I really wanted to like it, with every page I hoped the story was going to take off but it did not do it for me. The main problem I had with this book was that for most part it was confusing and weird, I felt a little bit of a mess as to what the characters, specially Dumplin were trying to show us. For a book that it seems to be about body positivism, being yourself despite of what others think I was very upset with the main character Dumplin who I felt through the whole book did not show a lot of self respect and treated herself sometimes with a very low opinion and sometimes I felt she judged the other characters who were supposed to be her friends. In general her character made me feel angry. Like I said, I kept reading because I thought it was going to get better but at the end I did not connect with characters, their feelings, their emotions, with the story. I think the story has potential but it was not well developed in my opinion. I kept waiting and hoping for that wow factor, that incredible ending but it did not happen.
